    • Location: Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
    • Inaugurated by: Dr. Jitendra Singh (Union Minister of State for Science & Technology).
    • Three new weather radars for real-time monitoring installed in Uttarakhand: Pant Nagar, Auli, and Haridwar.
    • Dehradun is home to the Indian Forest Survey Report, published biannually since 1987.

  • 33rd South East Asian Games (2025)
    • Commenced in Bangkok, Thailand.
    • Venue: Rajamangala National Stadium.
    • Previous (32nd) edition held in Cambodia.
    • Thailand is known for white elephants and rubber production; currency is Baht.
    • Cambodia's capital: Phnom Penh, located on the Mekong River. Home to the Angkor Wat temple (dedicated to Lord Vishnu, built by the Khmer dynasty).
    • ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) formed in 1967, headquartered in Jakarta, with Timor-Leste as its 11th member.
  • Project Mahadev (Maharashtra)
    • Launched by the Maharashtra government to promote grassroots football.
    • Aims to develop hidden talent in football, focusing on Under-13 boys and girls in rural and tribal areas.

    • SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) established in 1985 (first meeting).

  • PRAVARA (SEBI Initiative)
    • Launched by SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India).
    • Purpose: To prevent misleading return claims by stockbrokers and research analysts.
    • SEBI: Established in 1988 (became a statutory body in 1992), headquartered in Mumbai, regulates the stock/share market.
    • Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE): Established in 1875, Asia's oldest stock exchange.
    • National Stock Exchange (NSE): Established in 1992.
    • Both BSE and NSE are headquartered on Dalal Street, Mumbai.
    • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) headquarters: Mumbai (since 1937, previously Kolkata).
    • State Bank of India (SBI) headquarters: Nariman Point, Mumbai (established 1955).
    • IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) headquarters: Hyderabad.

Governance & Policy

  • 100% Voter Roll Digitalization (SIR)
    • Rajasthan became the first state to achieve 100% digitalization of voter rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program.
    • SIR was initiated by the Election Commission of India to update voter lists, remove deceased voters, and prevent fraudulent voting.
    • The program first started in Bihar.
    • Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are responsible for implementing SIR.
    • Rajasthan digitized 5.46 crore voter rolls.
  • Supreme Court Directive on Women's Reservation in State Bar Councils
    • The Supreme Court directed State Bar Councils to implement a 30% reservation for women.
    • State Bar Councils were established under the Advocates Act, 1961.
    • The Nari Vandan Adhiniyam (106th Constitutional Amendment) provides 1/3rd reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas.
    • Justice Fatima Bibi was the first female judge of the Supreme Court. Anna Chandy (Kerala) was the first female judge of a High Court, and Leila Seth (Himachal Pradesh) was the first female Chief Justice of a High Court.
  • Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) Rules
    • Issued by the Government of India.
    • Aimed at improving fuel efficiency, especially in the context of competition in the small car market (e.g., between Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors).
  • Abhay Brigade (Bihar)
    • Launched by Bihar to enhance women's safety, improve public place security, and curb hooliganism.

    • PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) recognizes individuals for ethical treatment towards animals.

    • Awards for 2023: Hira Bai Baghel (Chhattisgarh).

  • Demise of Dr. Baba Adhav
    • Veteran socialist leader Dr. Baba Adhav passed away at the age of 95 in Pune.
    • He was known for advocating for laborers and marginalized communities.
