  • India-Russia Relations:

    • Russian President Vladimir Putin visited India on December 4-5 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Meeting.
    • RELOS Agreement: India and Russia signed the Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Support (RELOS) agreement.
    • RELOS is a bilateral military logistic pact for refuelling, supply, repair, and maintenance of armed forces.
    • A similar logistics agreement, LEMOA (Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement), exists between India and the USA.
  • Joint Military Training Exercises:

    • Harimau Shakti: Joint military training exercise between India and Malaysia, held from December 5-18 in Mahajan Field, Bikaner, Rajasthan. India's Dogra Regiment led the exercise.
    • Other India-Malaysia exercises: Samudra Lakshman, Udara Shakti.
    • Garud Shakti: 10th edition of this joint exercise between India and Indonesia, held in Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh.

  • Victoria University (Australia): Established its first India campus in Gurugram, Haryana.
    • Approval granted under India's New Education Policy 2020 (based on Kasturirangan Committee recommendations).

  • Deakin University (Australia): Opened its first foreign campus in GIFT City, Gujarat.

Environment & Climate Action

  • Ozone Hole over Antarctica: A record shrinkage has been observed in the ozone hole over Antarctica.
    • The ozone layer (in the stratosphere) protects against harmful UV radiation, preventing skin cancer.

    • The ozone hole was first discovered by Fourman (England) in 1985.

  • Interpol President: Lucas Philipp (Frenchman) appointed as the new President for a 4-year term.
