National Unity Day (October 31, 2025)

  • Parade Leadership: The National Unity Day parade at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat was led by Suman Nala, an IPS officer from Nagaur, Rajasthan, currently serving in Gujarat.
  • Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The day marked the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) - Curriculum Changes

  • Rajasthan's Primary Classes: The curriculum will now include the life story of the folk deity Tejaji.
  • Key Provisions of NEP 2020:
    • School Structure: 5+3+3+4 (covering ages 3-18 years; 3 years pre-school, 2 years primary, followed by 3 years, 3 years, and 4 years).
    • Student-Teacher Ratio: Aim for less than 30:1 in general areas, and less than 25:1 in economically and socially disadvantaged areas.
    • Gross Enrollment Ratio: Target 100% GER by 2030.
    • Medium of Instruction: Up to 5th grade, the medium should be local language, regional language, or mother tongue.
    • Research: Establishment of a National Research Foundation to promote research.
    • Education Expenditure: 6% of GDP to be allocated to education.
    • Vocational Education: Introduction of vocational education from Class 6.
    • Assessment: Establishment of a National Assessment Center (PARAKH).
    • M.Phil. Program: Abolished.
    • Higher Education Exit Options: Certificate after 1 year, Diploma after 2 years, Degree after 3 years.
    • Teacher Qualification: By 2030, the minimum qualification for teachers will be a B.Ed. degree.
    • Focus on holistic development, critical thinking, and connecting education to local context and culture, rather than rote learning.
